Top 5 Areas for Digital Health Solutions in 2018

As we continue to transition into a digital world, health care organizations have been investing in digital health tools to help optimize workforce management and improve patient care and satisfaction.

The American Hospital Association confirmed this strategy in a recently published survey of 317 hospitals and health system executives. More than 85 percent of executives surveyed said that digital innovation is directly tied to their long-term strategy. Additionally, another 75 percent of executives said digital innovation is required to be competitive in the emerging consumer-centric healthcare landscape.

So where are executives seeing greatest benefits of digital innovation? Survey respondents cited the top two areas have been employee benefits management and operational efficiencies and improvements.

Top Digital Health Priorities of 2018

According to the executives surveyed, the top five areas they will be seeking a digital solution in 2018 are:

  • Patient-generated data and customized services (31 percent)
  • Network utilization and management (29 percent)
  • Referral management and in-network retention (29 percent)
  • Social community support (28 percent)
  • Convenient patient access (28 percent)

Not surprisingly, these five areas revolve around becoming more customer focused and providing better, more convenient patient access.
